Alan Tudyk Added to Cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!

Well, there’s been a lot of ups and downs with the cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter; not that it’s anything close to some movies I can think of, –Jack and Diane, for example, which couldn’t keep a cast member if it was life or death, –but there have been some definite hitches. The main cast members are largely new actors, in terms of film appearances, and some have even bailed (Trent Reznor). But finally, the gods of awesome movies have cut us some slack, and given yet another reason to see the movie: Alan Tudyk is being added to the cast, –as a bad guy! Woot! For die-hard fans of anything Joss Whedon has ever lent his creative genius to, I hardly need to make introductions. But for the rest of you, Alan Tudyk was Wash in Firefly, and Serenity, –he’s the pilot, who kicks ass, and is super funny. He’s even more hilarious in the ORIGINAL Death at a Funeral (not that retarded shit with Chris Rock), where he plays a psychotropically-altered Simon, bumbling around at a funeral.

Anyway, not to go too crazy, suffice to say, he’s awesome. Variety reports on his appearance in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter:

“Firefly” star Alan Tudyk has been cast as Stephen A. Douglas in 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

Timur Bekmambetov is directing the 3D summer tentpole from a script by author Seth Grahame-Smith. Helmer is also producing the project along with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley.

Benjamin Walker is set for the title role; cast also includes Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jimmi Simpson.

Tudyk is a genre fan favorite who next stars in the Anchor Bay drama “Beautiful Boy.” Thesp has a supporting role in Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and was recently cast as a lead in ABC comedy pilot “Suburgatory.”

“Vampire Hunter” is skedded for release on June 22, 2012.

First off: “skedded”? I swear, some people would rather make up fake words than look up how to spell real ones. Anyway, yes, “scheduled” for summer of 2012. If the world doesn’t end a la Aztec predictions, we’ll be able to see it. Yay! If not, then I’m sure we’ll be missing one hell of a show. I hope the world doesn’t end though, this is a rare chance to see Tudyk in a bad guy role. Maybe he’ll even turn into a vampire at some point! Any ideas, people? Have anyone read the book, –am I the only one who hasn’t yet?
