‘Blade’ Prequel Dropping Deacon Frost For New Villain?
When word got out that a Blade prequel focusing on Deacon Frost was in the works Blade fans everywhere were pretty geeked (myself included), but it looks like we may not be getting that Deacon movie after all. Due to legal issues the film may be doing a huge 180, going in a new direction with a brand new villain. Lame!
In an interview with Shock Till Ya Drop, actor Stephen Dorff (Deacon Frost) revealed the issues him and Blade director Stephen Norrington are facing.
"Me and Steve Norrington had a cool treatment for that, and when vampires got all this trending again, we thought we should do the adult version, more of like a Scarface Deacon Frost movie. And it sounded cool, this treatment, but then there was so many legal things. Like New Line owned Blade and Marvel's got...all this hype into 'The Avengers' and this group movie which sounds like such a mistake."
"Blade was such a '90s thing. I didn't want to do a Blade movie, I just really wanted to take Deacon and do then do a whole other thing which was much more today. So the idea me and Steve had, we might just end up fictionalizing it and just making a new character which might even be better for us. And he's someone I really like and would love to work with again. So hopefully whenever we get a chance we'll get into that."
So from the sound of it, we probably won’t be getting a kickass Deacon Frost film, which is a shame because I loved that character – BUT, we will most likely get a brand new vampire movie, so it’s not all bad.

this is ridiculous, a Deacon Frost prequel was the only thing that would’ve saved the Blade franchise, but now because of this “marvel universe” series of movies, we can’t have it? ffs
if they did do a Deacon Frost prequel they should try and get Arly Jover and Donal Logue so we could see how Frost came to know his henchmen.
The whole concept of a Deacon Frost prequel is an awesome idea, there is so much that can be done with this, showing how he created his “Empire” as well as the fact that he(Deacon Frost) in a weird way is Blades Father , his bite caused the baby in Mrs. Brooke’s belly to become the Daywalker (Blade) in fact giving Blade a part of Deacon Frost!!! Everything leading up to Blade 1 would be about Deacon Frosts’ world and how he became a Vampire through i’d think Dragonetti’s clan, I’d love to see this and I’m sure many others would too!? I Guess only time will tell ??????????????
