Cirque Du Freak Isn’t Over Yet! New Book Coming!

I absolutely loved Darren Shan’s Cirque Du Freak series! It is one of the few perfectly unique vampire stories out there; Shan took vampires and made them his own and the result was pure awesome. It sucked when the series ended - but it looks like it’s not entirely over, not yet. That’s right! Another book is on the way, but this one doesn’t continue where the series left off, in fact the Birth of a Killer: The Saga of Larten Crepsley is a prequel.

"Before Cirque Du Freak…

Before the war with the vampaneze...

Before he was a vampire.

Larten Crepsley was a boy.

As a child laborer many centuries ago, Larten Crepsley did his job well and without complaint, until the day the foreman killed his brother as an example to the other children.

In that moment, young Larten flies into a rage that the foreman wouldn't survive. Forced on the run, he sleeps in crypts and eats cobwebs to get by. And when a vampire named Seba offers him protection and training as a vampire's assistant, Larten takes it.

This is his story."

So excited! I can’t wait until this comes out I really miss reading about Darren Shan’s badass vampires. But it doesn’t end there, according to Shan’s website there will be four new books. Woo!

A 4 book series about Mr Crepsley's life before he met Darren Shan at the Cirque Du Freak. 200 years in the life of a tormented, valiant vampire. The first book, Birth of a Killer, debuts in the UK and USA simultaneously in late September 2010.

What do you guys think of the new series? Are you happy that Darren Shan is back to writing about vampires or do you think he should have stopped at Cirque Du Freak? As much as I love his other books, I am really happy to see him writing about vamps again.
