Elijah Will Be Joining Klaus for The Originals Spin-off

As previously reported, there’s a new show on the horizon, a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, an all-new show titled The Originals. As I am sure you can guess, the new show tells the tale of The Original vampires. It has been revealed that Daniel Gillies, who plays the original vampire known as Elijah, will be joining his brother Klaus in The CW’s spin-off! That’s no surprise given Elijah’s fanbase. Here’s hoping all of the other Originals also sign onto the project.

normal_VD4_Elijah_Canvas_1598raAccording to dish previously revealed, the pilot (actually the April 25th TVD episode) will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan) back to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — where he’s reunited with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.

Phoebe Tonkin, formerly of The Secret Circle, who joined The Vampire Diaries this season in the annoying recurring role of werewolf Haley, will also star. Executive producer Julie Plec, who will write the episode, is heading the spin-off with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.

Hurray! Both Elijah and Klaus will be joining the new series! I have high hopes for The Originals, but I am a little worried about it. The Vampire Diaries’ ratings are horrible lately, the most recent episode landed less than 3 million viewers, which is really terrible for the show. With ratings like that, the show won’t make it. So I can’t help but wonder if The Originals will make it. I hope so, it sounds more entertaining than Elena’s repetitive drama.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited about The Originals?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  1. I would love to see an Originals spin-off, but I fear you’re right: we’re never going to see it. I still love VD, but I sadly think its day is coming to an end. Too many weird ups and downs, and a lot of people are just put-off love triangles in general these days (I see discussion of it in every genre when it comes to books.)

Of course this would happen when things are building up to something really interesting. *sigh*
