Evanescence Claim to Have Perfect Song for ‘Breaking Dawn Part I’

They have already won two Grammys and sold millions of copies of their albums, but Evanescence want more – they want to get hired by Summit Entertainment to write a song for The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn Part I. Well, actually they already wrote the song, and they’re hoping it’ll land on the soundtrack.

“I’ve been screaming for [new song] ‘My Heart Is Broken’ to land in that, because I think it would fit the story so well. I got sucked into the ‘Twilight’ vortex by the girls at home, so by default, I’ve got to watch it,” drummer Will Hunt said during an interview with MTV recently. Amy Lee added, “I think that would be awesome.”

Amy had actually tried to write song for the film in the past with no success. Recalling how she joined the Twihards, she said, “I didn’t watch the first movie – I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever. I got over vampires in high school’ – then they were like, ‘Maybe you should write a song for the movie,’ so I read the book and I wrote some songs.”

“It didn’t work out because they have all these cool hipster people that are doing the Twilight stuff,” Amy revealed how the project ended. In spite of failed attempt, it didn’t stop the frontwoman from continuing to read the Stephenie Meyer book series. “I was kind of into it,” she admitted. “So I read the next books.”

Evanescence recently released a brand new song called “What You Want” to mark their comeback from hiatus and landing a song on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack would just be the icing on the cake.

What do you guys think of Evanescence being on the soundtrack? While I am not a huge fan of the Twilight books or movies, I do tend to love the film soundtracks and I would love to hear Evanescence and Amy’s powerful vocals on there. Here’s hoping Summit grants their wish.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  2. Evanescence (Going Under) is on Meyer’s playlist for New Moon. Meyer has really pioneered a very close relationship between books, movies, and rock/pop music, with very specific pairing of songs with scenes and then getting some of those same bands on the film’s soundtracks. Some of these were already well known in the indie scene or in the UK, but the Twilight connection boosted their popularity.

  6. I love Evanescence but I think Twillight is just an amusing film so its not really bad but I don’t consider it good ether. I still don’t know what to think.
