Even More BIG True Blood Casting News

Good news fellow True Blood fans, Alcide has been cast at long last! Season three’s most talked about character has finally been chosen, but not only that, they have also cast the actor to play Franklin Mott (if you’re wondering about the other new players, check out our older casting post here). Now let’s take a look shall we…

Joe ManganielloJoe Manganiello: This is the man that landed the big role of werewolf Alcide. Alcide has been described as a gorgeous and articulate man that is a bit rough around the edges. He appears heroic and decent, but then, things aren‘t always as they seem. In the Sookie Stackhouse novels he gets along well with Sookie, but the show could be a bit different so we’ll see just how well Alan Ball has them get along.

You may have seen Joe Manganiello before on One Tree Hill, playing Owen the barkeep. Or on How I Met Your Mother, playing the law school student Brad.

I have to say I am happy with Alan Ball’s choice here, Manganiello is for sure a good looking man.

James Frain TudorsJames Frain: This is the actor that has been cast in the big recurring role of Franklin Mott, who is said to be Tara’s over-protective vampire boy-toy. The casting info on Franklin Mott says that he is tall, dark and handsome that has an “immediate and torrid” connection to Tara. Alan Ball will no doubt switch things up with this character, but in the books he is Tara’s serious companion and caretaker.

James Frain is an excellent English actor who starred in the amazing show The Tudors. He also has recurring roles on Invasion, playing as Eli and on 24, playing as Paul Raines.

I think James Frain is an incredible actor; I’m not sure how great he’ll be at the role of Franklin - who is said to have an Italian accent, not English. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m sure he’ll be amazing.

So what do you think of the latest two actors to be added to True Blood’s season three cast?
