Harry Potter Series Almost Had a Vampire

“Pottermore’s 12 days of Christmas roll on: Today, a new piece of writing from J.K. Rowling on vampires was published on the site. To unlock the new story, fans must solve the daily riddle…”

Potter fans have theorized for years as to whether or not Snape was a vampire: the answer is “no!” No, no, no. BUT! There was almost a vampire professor at Hogwarts, and J.K. Rowling does mention a vampire in the books at some point, and discusses why she didn’t include them in her novels.

Apparently she felt werewolves deserved more attention, but well, to make things more simple, –she said something to the effect that she didn’t think she could add anything more to the vampire stuff that already was out there. To me, the statement sounded like, “Vampires are overdone.” Come on now, be honest: how many of you thought Snape was a vampire?

  1. That’s too funny–I just just sharing with someone that I thought Snape was the sexiest character in the Potter world. Now I know why!! Anyway, think about it: how on Earth could Voldemort outdo a proper vampire? The truth is, Rowling would have had a new character that would have taken over the story if she’d done her/him justice. Imagine Dracula (as we know him today) vs Voldemort. No contest.
