If the Sinking of the Titanic Doesn’t Kill You the Vampires Will
With the 1997 film Titanic back in theaters (and in 3D!) the world is buzzing about this ship all over again – new Titanic documentaries are available, the Titanic DVD and soundtrack are back on store shelves, Titanic books are all over the place… etc. Titanic mania has returned, and what do you get when you mix a Titanic craze and a vampire craze? Books about vampires feasting upon Titanic passengers of course.
The novel Carpathia by Matt Forbeck has been described as "Titanic meets 30 Days of Night." It’s a historical horror that pits Titanic passengers against bloodthirsty vampires. What a combination.

I’ll admit, when I heard of this book my first thoughts weren’t too nice, seeing how we already have 854985093 billion historical/vampire mashups. But after looking more into Carpathia and seeing all of the high praise it has gotten I am thinking that maybe it’s better than I initially thought.

I am sure to read it someday and it does look intriguing, but I am in the middle of so many vampire series right now, I am currently reading the spiritual chronicles book 2: Burgundy betrayal, by sheriff Lewis wohl, a romantic mystery suspense, it has vampires and werewolves in it. P.s. I love me some vampires, twilight only re-kindled what Dracula the novel and salem’s lot started.

Understandable. “Vamp-Tanic” sounds like a double dose of bandwagon-hopping.
But, to paraphrase Mick Jagger’s famous singer/song quote, “It’s the storyteller, not the story”.
A truly great author could write a Pulitzer-prize winning novel about a man who collects chewing gum wrappers off the sidewalk.
The praise given to “Carpathia” so far gives me hope. And I must confess that the novel “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” was better than I expected.
