Interview with THE STRAIN showrunners Carlton Cuse and Chuck Hogan, Part Two

My own question for showrunner Carlton Cuse of THE STRAIN and series co-creator Chuck Hogan of course had to do with Guillermo Del Toro. I hope that didn’t make them feel like that middle Brady Bunch sister, complaining that everything was always “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!” (Or, in this case, “Guillermo, Guillermo, Guillermo! We get so SICK of people asking about Guillermo!”) If they did, they sure didn’t let on, insisting that they all have a close working relationship, a “collaboration of like-minded people” working with “lots of overlap.” I stopped myself from asking, “But what’s it like to work with Guillermo?” or even “But isn’t he just so COOL?!”

They spoke on lots of things NOT Del Toro, too, like the recent “hard” but “necessary” decisions made to keep the series from getting “predictable,” the necessity that they remain “willing to do some bold things,” and that now “the stakes have been raised” for the series’ third season. They also promised we’d see more of Quinlan the Dhampyr (Huzzah!) and that, since the next season will be only 10 episodes long, there will be even more action packed into each installment. I look forward to it, guys.

Now let’s talk some more about Guillermo . . .
