Jesus the Vampire?

The truth is, we know little about the man named Jesus, whom billions of people around the world and throughout history believe to have been (still be) the incarnate Son of God. (Present company included.) Outside of the New Testament, which offers us some pretty sparse details, really, there is little mention of Him in corroborating historical documentation. (And skeptics argue that even this scant evidence is fabricated.) For this reason, all sorts of, let us say, “interesting” theories have arisen throughout the years concerning Him. He was a Buddhist monk, for example, or the reincarnation of the Hindi deity Krishna. Or he was really Julius Caesar, or maybe the archangel Michael. Or Zeus. And He came from outer space.

I was disappointed that the compiler of this list didn’t offer up another possibility: Jesus as a vampire. The parallels are certainly present. A return from the grave, the emphasis on blood, etc. “Drink from Me and live forever,” Jesus said to His followers. Couldn’t those same words have been spoken by Dracula? Because I maintain that the mystique of the vampire today is simply inverted Christianity (I’ve posted on this elsewhere) and is well on its way to becoming a new, authentic religion, following the intricate and serpentine course of all belief systems towards theistic recognition, it would seem to me an obvious connection. Maybe the writer was afraid of ruffling feathers. (Like the suggestion that Jesus was an alien isn’t gonna do that, anyway?)
