Danger, darkness, evil, blood, lust, sex… and vampires. What a perfectly wicked mixture. Thanks to the latest vampire craze vampire books are coming from publishers in massive waves, taking over book stores. But most of these vamp books are sweet romantic stories about star-crossed lovers, and I bet some of you are sick of that, some of you just may be looking for something with more blood and less vanilla. I’ve got exactly what you lusty devils want.

There is a large collection of vampire erotica out there and my personal faves are those edited by Cecilia Tan. She has edited a handful of fantastic, filthy, sexy vampire anthologies. Each book featuring at least one tale that will make your heart race and your blood boil.

These stories aren’t your boring romantic tales of sweet love making. These stories are full of rough sex, screams of pain mixed with moans of pleasure, dominance, submission and of course, biting, lots of biting. You have A Taste of Midnight which has short stories like Bryn Haniver’s Desmodus, about an innocent little biology nerd meeting a lustful beast that completely takes her over. Then you have Blood Surrender which features stories like In Service Immortal by Paige Roberts, about a hungry vampire queen and her devoted servant. In Erotica Vampirica you have The Razor’s Edge by Kymberlyn Toliver-Reed, an excellent story about fear and dominance and how wonderful it can feel to lose control.

But this is just a small look into the books; each one has over a dozen sensual stories for you to sink your fangs into. The short stories in Cecilia Tan’s books have everything from dark, twisted and raunchy to mysterious, intense and divine.

I should add that none of these books should be read by kids… obviously. These naughty stories are for the sexually deviant adults looking for a good hot read, not for tweens looking for cuddly vegetarian vampires.

Playboy Makes Vampires Even Sexier

…and who thought that was even possible?

It’s no secret that the world of entertainment has been taken over by our favorite blood sucking creatures of the night. But you really know a fad is popular when the hotties over at Playboy join in on sexy fun, and man is it sexy.

Just in time for the Halloween season, Playboy recently released their October issue of the magazine and on the cover, a bounty of vampire-y goodness. With the steaming hot sex scenes in True Blood to the rated PG, yet still passionate kisses in Twilight, there is no doubt we find vampires sexy. This edition of the magazine seeks to explain this phenomenon with a history of vampire lore accompanied by a seductive, erotic eight-page pictorial. Naked vamps = pure win!

“Love Bites” takes a historic look into the sexualization of the vampire, starting out with Bela Lugosi’s classic portrayal of Dracula in the 1931 film. Now while that is all well and good you know it’s those 8 pages of pure undead sexiness that will be drawing people in, showing us just how sexy vampires can be, and who better to show us than Playboy.

The voluptuous and beautiful pictorial, featuring Playboy Poland Playmate of the Year Kasia Danysz and Weronika Zurkowska, was first shot by photographer Szymon Brodziak for the March 2009 issue of Playboy Poland. While Klinger offers numerous historic and social explanations for audiences’ fascination with vampiric love, Brodziak’s photos prove that no matter what it is that attracts us, vampires have never looked so good.

Yup, believe it or not vampires are so popular and so loved that there are entire books on their sexiness alone. Pick up Allure of the Vampire: Our Sexual Attraction to the Undead by Corvis Nocturnum if you are interested in that aspect of vampires. Or if you just want to read some sexy, and I mean sexy, vampire stories, pick up anything edited by Cecilia Tan. She has a deliciously large collection of erotic vampire anthologies (shapeshifter ones too for the werewolf fans), full of story after story of vampire sex that is so hot you wont be able to read enough of them and so dirty that even True Blood’s scenes will seem mild.

In fiction of course, the epidemy of vampire literature, would be Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. There were sexual undertones, of course, relaying vampirism to be a sort of sexually transmitted disease. Its themes of blood, death, and sex made it’s way to Victorian Europe, rattled because of the spread of tuberculosis and syphilis. But the vampire was first introduced to Western literature, by Lord Byron, in his poem The Giaour. Though, his manservant, John Polidori, wrote the first vampire story, Lord Ruthven, which was partly based on Byron himself. No doubt for his certain promiscuous behaviour with women, which was a characterization of the romantic perspective of vampirism. The story was written during a “ghost story competition” in which Lord Byron was said to have encouraged his friend Percy Shelley’s wife, Mary Shelley, to write a ghost story. Apparently, she did.

Vampires have dominated American fiction through many popular modern authors, namely Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris, Valerie Hardin, Margaret L. Carter, Stephen King, amongst many others. Anne Rice is famous for her widely popular Vampire Chronicles, and various other novels written under other pseudonyms. She portrays the romantic vampire, both breaking boundaries of old vampire legends, and regenerating and rebuilding the old to complete a new breed of vampire. The beautiful deadly killers that have captivated audiences globally.

Charlaine Harris has written various mystery and horror novels, but is now a rising star of vampire fiction, with her debut vampire novel Dead Until Dark, featuring a humourous female heroine. Her refreshingly original style is highly entertaining, and published globally. Valerie Hardin, well known on the web for her six books of Gothic poetry, and novella Crimson Kisses, and will soon be collaborating with other authors to produce young adult novels. Margaret L. Carter is widely known for her paperback paranormal romances, among them, Tall, Dark, and Deadly. Stephen King’s most popular vampire novels, Salem’s Lot, and The Night Flier, still terrorize the world.
