The Gates is Canceled

The Gates, a supernatural soap opera that premiered on ABC this past summer, has been canceled. Sorry Gates fans, but there won’t be a second season. I can’t say that I am disappointed, the one episode that I watched didn’t impress me in the least. I was bored.

For those that haven’t heard of The Gates, it’s a show which starts out by following Nick Monohan and his family, who have moved from Chicago to a quiet, upscale planned community called The Gates, where he will be Chief of Police. They soon realize that their neighbors are not what they appear to be. The Gates is filled with such creatures as vampires, witches, werewolves, and succubi – and the parents of The Gates will protect their children from the outside world no matter what. Cue the drama.

Like I said before, I wasn’t a big fan of the show, so I can understand why it was canceled. Granted I only watched the first episode, but I spent that entire episode yawning and rolling my eyes. It was boring, cliché and ridiculously cheesy. Definitely not my type of show. Apparently I am not the only one that feels this way, because reports are coming in saying that the show is finished. Several of the show’s stars have confirmed this by saying (via twitter) that the show has been canceled and that there will be no second season.

Quite a few people are already in an uproar over it, so I suppose that the show has some fans, not many, but some. Unfortunately for them, a show needs more than a couple hundred of viewers to survive.

At least we all have other vampire shows to enjoy. Yay Vampire Diaries!

What do you guys think? Were you a fan of the show, are you disappointed that it has been canceled? Or, like me, do you not care?
