The Master, Remastered

Not so long ago, I was chronicling the creation by toy company Funko of some figures based on characters from the hit FX series THE STRAIN; in particular I was excited about the oversized (for Funko) figure of THE MASTER, Jusef Sardu, as he appeared in the first season, all big and Nosferatu-like. Then, a few weeks later, I reported on the figures being released for sale, and celebrated my finally getting my hands on one of those little monsters. Now there’s a bigger, badder, flashier, but WAY more expensive version of the character coming out. Take a gander at that photo, peeps. Bodacious, isn’t it?

Technically this figure isn’t a toy. It’s a statue, a 1/5th scale, photo-realistic replica of the character, brought to us by Sideshow Collectibles (they always do nice work) in a joint venture with Insight Collectibles. (I don’t know much about this latter company, but if this figure is any indication, they do nice work, too. Really nice.) The linked article doesn’t specify what the statue is fashioned out of, but I’m certain it’s resin. This bad boy will run you $325.00, though; I’ll probably be sticking with my little Funko version. But the statue DOES come with an alternate head, one with his tongue stinger protruding in “attack mode,” to sweeten the deal.
