If you’re one of those hardcore Truebies that not only buys the DVDs but the soundtracks as well, then good news, HBO just revealed that the third True Blood soundtrack will be released September 6! The soundtrack features a wide assortment of songs for those that just can’t get enough True Blood. Check out the details:
“Music from Seasons 3 and 4 is highlighted on this album, including a cover of The Zombies’ “She’s Not There” by Neko Case and Nick Cave, a new version of Karen Elson’s take on “Season Of The Witch,” featuring Donovan, “Gonna Be A Darkness” by Jakob Dylan and Gary Louris, Jace Everett’s incredible theme, “Bad Things,” and so much more. It is music to drink blood, shape shift, and howl at the moon to. Spooky and sexy, new and classic tracks from the HBO Original Series True Blood.”
Here is the track listing:
- Season of the Witch – Karen Elson and Donovan
- Me and the Devil – Gil Scott-Heron
- Te Ni Nee Ni Nu – Slim Harpo
- She’s Not There – Neko Case and Nick Cave
- Hitting the Ground – PJ Harvey and Gordon Gano
- Spellbound – Siouxsie and the Banshees
- 9 Crimes (Demo) – Damien Rice
- Cold Grey Light of Dawn – Nick Lowe
- Hell’s Bells – Cary Ann Hearst, Butch Walker and Jake Sinclair
- Gonna Be A Darkness – Jakob Dylan and Gary Louris
- What You Do To Me – Blakroc
- Paradise Circus – Massive Attack
- And When I Die – The Heavy
- Bad Things – Jace Everett
That’s quite the mix. I can see loads of True Blood fans scooping this soundtrack up. Personally, I’ll be passing on this one. 9 times out of 10 I LOVE soundtracks, you almost always get awesome new music on soundtracks, but I never cared for the music in True Blood so I’ll be skipping out on this one. To each their own. Who here is planning out buying True Blood Vol. 3?
You can pre-order the CD here or just download it on September 6.

Some great tunes I enjoyed while watching the show! I might pick this one up myself. I’ve always been a fan of the Jace Everett intro, and of Siouxsie and the Banshees — Spellbound. I was appreciatively introduced to 9 Crimes by Damien Rice through the show. I like the alternate versions of She’s Not There and Season of the Witch. Always been a Massive Attack fan. I’m digging this one.
