Upcoming Vampire Film ‘Vampires on a Plane!’

Ok, the upcoming teen thriller isn’t actually called “Vampires on a Plane” – but it is about some mother-sucking vamps on a mother-sucking plane. Har har. Ok seriously, the forthcoming film, Night Wings, is sure to get people talking, just like a certain snake film did.

It was recently reported that Ember Entertainment has picked up distribution rights to the Canadian-produced vampires on a plane thriller Night Wings.

Written by Paul Birkett, the plot of Night Wings sees a 12-year-old boy on a red-eye flight over the Atlantic trying to convince the flight crew that vampires are on board the flight from Romania. Only one passenger believes the boy, a father seeking revenge for the loss of his son to the Count Radu vampire clan.

The film will mark the directorial debut of visual effects producer Dusan Strugar. The man is already known to the entertainment world for his work on the Tomb Raider movies and the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick sequel.

Alright, I’ll be the first to admit it – Night Wings sounds ridiculous! However, I am so very intrigued. I would totally check out this film, simply because it does sound so absurd. I am curious to see how they are going to manage to make this story stretch throughout an entire movie, I mean, if the vampire is powerful enough they could kill everyone on a plane in a matter of minutes. Hmm… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how they pull off vampires on a plane.

I will give them one thing, that movie poster is spectacular. I love me some quality movie posters.

What do you guys think about the upcoming Night Wings? Does it sounds silly or awesome… or both?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  4. The plot description, by itself, sounds a bit ridiculous.
Not to say a good movie couldn’t be made out of it.

At its best, it would be like the classic 1963 Twilight Zone episode Nightmare At 20,000 Feet.

At its worst, of course, it would be “Vampires On A Plane” (without Samuel L. Jackson to liven things up).

The German film “We Are The Night” (recently reviewed here) started with a neat private jet sequence, but that only lasted a couple of minutes. Even the aforementioned classic Twilight Zone episode lasted less than half an hour.
Biggest problem I see here is making this premise work for 90-120 minutes.
