Slashback: A Cal Leandros Novel by Rob Thurman
I stopped and let them circle me, first because it was intriguing and, second, because, honestly, what could they do? Only knives, but all armed, and that made them even more interesting. Interesting. Fun. Playtime… Taking on bloodthirsty supernatural monsters is how Caliban and Niko Leandros make a living. But years ago—before they became a force to be reckoned with—the brothers were almost victims of a very human serial killer. Almost. Unfortunately for them, that particular depraved killer was working as apprentice to a creature far more malevolent—the legendary Spring-heeled Jack. He’s just hit town. He hasn’t forgotten what the Leandros brothers did to his murderous protégé. He hasn’t forgotten what they owe him. And now they are going to pay…and pay…and pay.…

Made of Stone (The Mangel Series) by Charlie Williams
There’s bad stuff out there. Folks reckon things like vampires don’t exist, but they does—Jock from the burger van told me. Plus I found an actual one of ’em, sleeping at the time in the back of a hearse I nicked that first morning. That’s how me and Jock got to setting out freeing the world of ’em, using his bag o’ wooden stakes and special bottles of whisky. Course, I knowed that vampires didn’t exist, not when I stopped and done some thinking. And I knowed Jock had mental wossnames, what with his son falling off that roof and him reckoning them immigrants pushed him. It’s just that I didn’t get much time for thinking, not with the coppers on our arse. Jock were off… and me with him.

– Moonlight

By Moonlight

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  1. I Vampire, and Vampire Hunter D look cool, but I’m sick of all this vampire romance bullshit. They should stay in horror.

      1. Well, I guess you’re right, I suppose I shouldn’t be knocking on anyone who likes vampire romance. Never meant to make anyoene feel bad. I just think that vampires feeding on willing doners waters down the whole vampire thing

        1. It’s ok, everyone is welcome to their opinion :) I still think it depends on the vampire. Take Ward’s vampires for example, they aren’t reanimated corpses that feed on and kill innocents. They are an actual species. One can’t be made a vampire, they are born one. There are a lot of different types of vampires, some fit the horror genre and some don’t. I don’t think vampires have to be one thing. :)
