Vampire Diaries Spinoff: Secret Circle Casting Update!

Rather than kill the suspense by immediately telling you the names and fame status of all the people, –or the one person who was added to the cast of ‘Secret Circle’, I’m going to make you wait for it. Was that long enough? Okay, great. Now, there are two names already added to the cast: the love interest of the leading lady, and the leading lady herself. Her love interest, Adam, is the oldest living member of the ‘coven’ of witches who, I guess, are at the center of the plot. Or who knows, maybe this super-ancient coven guy, is just a big link to a subplot. We won’t know till we see the show! And if this series takes place in the Vampire Diaries universe, it’s sure to have a few vampires popping up now and then, right?

Gather’s Entertainment section has picked up a few nuggets of information about who’s playing who, why, and what these roles are all about:

“According to TVLine, Thomas Dekker will be playing Adam, the female lead’s love interest. This series, which will be the second on the CW based on books by L.J. Smith, follows “Cassie who discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a top-secret cover, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle between good and evil.” So where does Dekker’s Adam fit in? He’s “the oldest member of the…coven.”

Playing the role of Cassie will be Britt Robertson of Life Unexpected. She’s not the only LUX star who has another role lined up already; Kristoffer Polaha has been cast in the Ringer pilot.

So will Secret Circle have what it takes to make it? If it brings in The Vampire Diaries audience, there’s little doubt. That show has certainly made a name for itself and is one of the more popular series on the CW. There’s no doubt that will be back for another season next year (though it has yet to be officially renewed), and if the CW were to pair these two together, fans would most likely at least stick around after The Vampire Diaries for the first episode of Secret Circle.”

Now I have to read a new book series; alas! Dekker has a good history of film and television work, plus he’s cute, –and he’s also slightly controversy prone. He was arrested for a DUI in 2009, but in terms of success, has been in many horror films, and was also the cute guy (Zach) who was besties with Claire Bennet in his Heroes. To his detriment, he left Heroes to join the Terminator show, which sucked so so so horrendously, it was cancelled. Now, what the post doesn’t mention, which is pretty sure to be a big break for Britt Robertson, the show’s female lead, is that she’ll also be in the cast of Scream 4, (due for release April 15th, yay!) where she met some great actors, –who with any luck, mentored her  a little on her way to success.

  1. what i don’t get is how is he the oldest member of the coven??? did all the adult witches die or is he like a vampire witch??? these are the only too possibilties if they want this to be apart of VD universe because it has already been established in VD that witches are mortal
