‘Vampire Diaries’ Spinoff ‘The Originals’ in the Works

originals-

No joke my dear Vampire Diaries fans! The CW is actually considering making a second Vampire Diaries show focused entirely on the first vampires – The Originals. Yay!

Joseph-Morgan-joseph-morgan-32655785-960-720Titled The Originals (surprise surprise), the budding new CW series would be an spinoff revolving around the Original family led by Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and set up in a season-four Vampire Diaries episode. Executive producer Julie Plec, who is set to write the episode, is leading the spinoff, with Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.

In The Vampire Diaries episode slated to air April 25, Klaus returns to the supernatural hotspot of the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his wicked former protégé Marcel. The Secret Circle's Phoebe Tonkin, who joined Vampire Diaries this season in a pivotal recurring role, will also star.

The Originals, as we know, are the first existing vampires in the world and were first seen in season two. They have become a huge part of The Vampire Diaries since, with the sexy Morgan proving to be a fan favorite. And we just may get a whole lot more of him and the other Originals! The project is still in the works, so it’s entirely possible it could get nixed before ever airing. But here’s hoping all goes well and we get a new show starring The Originals.

What do you think about this spinoff? Are you for it or against it? Let us know in a comment below.
