Vampire Overkill in Films & TV

“When my mother chanced upon an episode of The Vampire Diaries on TV sometime ago, she remarked on how obsessed movie-makers were with vampires.”

We’re very vampire crazy here… we admit it. Obsessed? Not really, but try explaining to a very vanilla guy the difference between “real” vampires and the vampires we know and love from cinema. Chances are, he’s probably going to think they’re insane, if not you -and- the subculture in question. I don’t think it’s fair that we vampire fans should have to explain ourselves all the time, –at what point does the rest of the world smarten up, and realize that it’s okay to like things a little dark, –or even a lot dark?

I mean… there are people out there who actually like the taste of liver. And vampire fans get treated like freaks? When I see some jerky blogger, writing for the billionth time, that vampires are being obsessed over by filmmakers and TV producers, all I can think is… so what? Why don’t you go watch House of Cards then, asshole? No one is forcing you to like vampires, read about them, or watch them. We live in an era where entertainment is pretty damn easy to come by, thanks to globalism and the effort to make Internet available to indigenous tribes in the Amazon jungle. People who eat bugs and bark sandwiches are now watching Netflix, and playing Plants vs. Zombies with everyone else. So… spare me your indignant bullshit, please?
