Whether or not The Vampire Diaries would return for a fourth season has been on the minds of nearly every fan of the vamptastic show. The current season has been losing viewers at a fast pace and the ratings are not at all where they used to be. So is this the end of our beloved vampire drama? NO! The CW has just announced that The Vampire Diaries will be back for another season! Season 4 is coming! Yay!

In spite of the declining ratings, The Vampire Diaries is actually the most successful show on the CW, with the most recent episode drawing in 2.2 million viewers. So, the show isn’t doing as well at it used to, but it’s doing better than everyone else on the network, which is why it’s getting another season.

Here’s hoping the fourth season draws in more viewers so that in the future we get a fifth season. I think what hurt the current season so badly was a combination of poor choices. First off, the constant hiatuses really screwed up the show. People were pissed that they didn’t get a new episode, they were confused as to when new episodes were on, and the excitement over "what will happen next!” kind of dies out after a break that’s weeks long. All of those little pauses between episodes royally sucked, so I really hope they don’t repeat it in Season 4.

Another problem, for me at least, is the storyline. I feel like every season has been exactly the same, just with a slightly different villain. I am sick of Elena’s romance drama, I’m sick Elena crying and blaming herself EVERY time something bad happens, I’m sick of Bonnie getting screwed over in every other episode …etc. The same exact things are happening to the same exact characters every season. I liked it the first time around, but now it is getting old.

But issues aside, I am still thrilled that a fourth season is on the way!

Who else is happy about another season of The Vampire Diaries?
