2004’s DARK SHADOWS Pilot Now Online

I guess I need to watch it before I pronounce judgment, but I’m honestly not interested. Back when the early 1990s “reimagining” of the classic hit TV series came out, I had never watched even a single episode of the latter. I never had the opportunity. Growing up a child of the 80s, we never had cable, and none of the local TV stations ever aired reruns of DARK SHADOWS. I KNEW about the show. I read FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, after all. I always WANTED to see it, but VHS was my only option, and none of the local video stores carried the show, either. (Was the show even available on VHS in the 80s?) My knowledge that there WAS a DARK SHADOWS is what made me want to watch the revival series.

Things have changed since those days. I still love the revival series, but it can’t compare to the original, of which I have now seen every single episode, some of them multiple times. Remakes simply don’t appeal to me. That being said, this one follows more or less the classic storyline, just in a compressed version. The only real point of interest for me is that Jessica Chastain played Carolyn Stoddard. I suppose I’ll watch it, eventually. Maybe it’ll be good. But it won’t be *my* DARK SHADOWS.
