5 Cheap Vampire Video Games

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard someone say “I’d play video games more often if they weren’t so damn expensive!” It’s a bitch being a broke gamer. Most new games cost around $60 and the consoles to play them on are a couple hundred dollars – it sucks. But if you have a computer then you’re in luck, there’s a handful of super cheap vampire games you can play on your PC or Mac. They may not be the greatest games of all time, but they’re definitely a few hours of entertainment.
Here’s a look at a few inexpensive games for the poor vampire gamer:

1. Vampire Saga: Pandora’s Box

I wrote a review for this point and click adventure game a while back (here). It’s a fun and ridiculously addictive game full of puzzles and mini games. You play as a stowaway on board the Pandora and you must find and save Laura. Soon after boarding the ship, a sequence of grisly murders unfold and you learn that there’s a creature on board with a thirst for human blood. It’s up to you to unravel the secrets of this chilling love story.

2. A Vampyre Story
I haven’t played this one, but I want to. The awesome graphics remind me a lot of Grim Fandango (LOVE!) and the story sounds pretty decent (if not girly). It follows opera singer Mona De Lafitte who is held captive by her tormentor, vampire Baron Shrowdy von Kiefer. Ever since she was transformed into a vampire by Shrowdy and whisked off to his castle, her greatest wish has been to return to Paris and continue her singing career. When Shrowdy fails to return from a nightly foray, she sees an opportunity to flee. Together with her only friend, a bat named Froderick, she escapes from her prison and tries to find her way back to Paris.

3. Dracula Resurrection
Ok, so this horror game is 10-years-old, but for a game that old the graphics kick ass. I was a lil’ teen when this came out and I was obsessed with it! I’ve played it many many times over the years, so I am totally recommending that you pick it up. Dracula Resurrection is an adventure game that takes place seven years after Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Married to Mina and happily living in London, Jonathan thinks the nightmare is behind them until one day, when he returns home to a letter. In the letter, Mina tells him she has gone to Transylvania, unable to ignore the call of her blood any longer. Jonathan follows and discovers he has very little time to find Mina before it is too late. For you see, Dracula has returned. This game is rated “Mature” so it goes without saying that it’s not for kids.
Amazon price: $14.05 (This price may change in the future)

4. Dracula Files
The reviews for this game are pretty mixed, but it’s a cheap vampire game, so it gets a mention. Dracula Files is a puzzle adventure game that follows the descendants of the Van Helsing and Harker families. Dracula has returned after a 100 years, thirsting for blood and revenge, and he has to be stopped.
Amazon price: $17.99 (This price may change in the future)

5. A Vampire Romance: Paris Stories
This one sounds super cheesy, but it’s SO cheap it doesn’t even matter. This puzzle game follows Leila Saraostre, a young foreigner who moves to Paris to study at the art school of the Louvre. There she meets Uriel Ruthven, a young and mysterious man. She quickly falls in love, but then he suddenly disappears mysteriously. “Discover Uriel’s strange secret!” I bet he’s a vampire.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
