It’s kinda hard to imagine there wouldn’t be one, honestly. It’s hard to imagine the movie won’t turn a nice profit, even with the ‘Rona ragin’ and all that. It’s bound to go over the top in a few weeks if it doesn’t do so immediately. And with the critical consensus consisting of nigh universal praise, yeah, I’d say a sequel is likely. But—SPOILER WARNING—the Blissfield Butcher is killed off at the end of the movie. How could they bring him back?
Here’s an article from Screen Rant saying the same thing I said—that the magic dagger is the key—but they’re suggesting that a sequel could happen without Vince Vaughn being involved. I can’t get onboard with that, but there’s no reason to. He could easily return from the dead in true movie slasher fashion. Again, the magic dagger is the key. It has also been hinted that, as both FREAKY and the HAPPY DEATH DAY movies take place in the same shared universe crafted by creator Christopher Landon, the two franchises might intersect. There’s an even easier way to bring back the Butcher, as we’ve seen just how porous the timeline can be in the latter films. There are just all kinds of possibilities.
