A Plethora of Witches

Artist Jordan Monsell, owner of SilhouettesbyJordan and creator of that bodacious poster featuring all, or dang-near most, of the characters from Stephen King’s works, has created a new poster, this one featuring witches. Lots and lots of witches, from all over pop-culture, from movies and books and cartoons. Can you identify them all? Some are so easy that it’s almost embarrassing to acknowledge them. Hermione from Harry Potter, for example. The Sanderson Sisters. Ursula from THE LITTLE MERMAID. Samantha from BEWITCHED. But I really dig on the more obscure choices, and the ones from more historic properties, like Madame Mim from THE SWORD IN THE STONE. Kudos to him for including Marvel’s Scarlet Witch and Evil-Lyn from the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE toyline and cartoon series.

The choices that make me happiest are Black Phillip and the witches from THE WITCH, Shakespeare’s Three Witches, and the Wicked Witch of the West; the grand prize, though, has to go to the Stygian Witch from the original CLASH OF THE TITANS! I do have one question, though: why the hell is Elvira in there? She’s not a witch. She’s just a bimbo in goth attire. And if the artist was going to include some goth-dressing late-night movie Horror host who isn’t a witch, it should have been Vampira, not her ersatz impersonator!
