A Team-up with Scooby-Doo: It Shoulda Been Vampira

There’s a new animated feature coming out this fall on digital and DVD. It will feature the Scooby gang teaming up with Bill Nye the Science Guy and Elvira as they face-off against the Scarecrow—the Batman villain—who has animated a horde of rapacious pumpkins. It sounds fun. You can check out the trailer by clicking here.

I can’t get too excited about it, though. I can’t get excited about anything Elvira is involved with, knowing what I know about her. Editorializing here: she’s a thief. Or else she’s really stupid. She, or her people, blatantly ripped off Vampira. I thoroughly believe this. If Cassandra Peterson is telling the truth, that she didn’t know anything about what was done behind the scenes, then she’s admitting publicly that she’s awfully naïve. And if, as she has repeatedly claimed, she had at the time never even heard of Vampira, she is admitting publicly that’s she’s stupid. Either way I can muster little respect for her.

I look at something like this new animated feature and all I can think is, it should be Vampira that we’re seeing alongside the Scooby-Doo crew, not the likeness of the woman who screwed her over.

No apologies.
