A True Blood Movie?

The latest rumor in the entertainment world is that a True Blood movie is on the way. That’s right – a True Blood movie. Unfortunately, there is NO proof of this “upcoming movie.”

Ok guys, so here’s how this whole thing played out – It all started when one movie site SPECULATED that HBO would make a True Blood movie. Their whole idea behind this was that True Blood is insanely popular, and since HBO has made some of their other popular shows, like Sex and the City, into a movie that they would do the same for True Blood. That’s where this idea came from, from a writer that is guessing that just maybe HBO will turn the show into a movie. It’s not founded in any real truth, it’s just them thinking out loud.

But ever since that one article was posted, the whole thing has snowballed out of control and countless movie websites have run with the idea as well. That is why we are now hearing so much on the supposed True Blood movie. Here’s the problem though, all of these other sites are blatantly making up info on the subject. Some claim that HBO is talking about the movie already, others are saying that Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin have agreed to star in the film, some are saying that Alan Ball has agreed to direct it, and almost all of them claim that the movie will come out after the fourth season of the show.

None of this is true.

That’s right, these sites are once again making up nonsense in order to get people reading their articles. I see it all the time, writers will make up a few small facts and throw it into their article to spice up a boring story. It wouldn’t be as interested if they were honest and said “hey, some guy thinks that there might be a True Blood movie one day.” So instead they twist it up and say “OMG!1!!1 There’s totally going to be a movie and HBO is planning it already!”

I see writers make stuff up ALL the time, but this has to be one of the most frustrating instances.

Now, back to the movie, if you really think on it guys it’s not likely that there will be a True Blood movie. Sex and the City was different. True Blood is based on a book series and so far every season of the show is based on one book. While the show and the Sookie Stackhouse books aren’t exactly like one another, the base is still there. Book one – season one, book two – season two… and so on. Now, considering that there are already ten books, it wouldn’t really make sense for them to suddenly throw a short movie in there after season four. Right?

So until HBO comes out and directly speak on the matter of a True Blood movie I’m not buying any of the rumors.
