Let’s say that you aren’t here because you love vampires, but because you hate them and you’re looking for info on the enemy. I already covered Vampire Hunting 101, but it’s time to take it to the next level. This is a post about weapons, but instead of going to the same old wooden stakes and swords we’re making this vampire hunting trip a little different, a little fun and crazy. So here’s a look at some badass vampire slaying weapons that are a bit off of the beaten path.
Yeah, crossbows kicks ass, but they’re SO overdone, so why not switch that ordinary crossbow out for the arbalest. The arbalest is actually a larger version of the crossbow consisting of a steel bow which is set in a shaft of wood, furnished with a string and a trigger, and a mechanical device for bending the bow. Since the arbalest was much larger than earlier crossbows, and because of the greater tensile strength of steel, it had a greater force. Which means it can do a LOT of damage. Known for power and accuracy, the arbalest is accurate up to 500 yards. Imagine sticking an arrow in that and nailing some vamp in the heart without them even knowing you had them in your sights.
2. Hunga Munga
This weapon may not sound familiar, but if you’re a fan of Buffy and its spin-off Angel then you may have seen it, for not only did Buffy use one of these badass blades, but Connor (Angel’s son) did as well. Buffy and Connor may be killing fake vampires and demons, but that doesn’t mean this African blade isn’t worthy for your hunts. The hunga munga come in an assortment of shapes and sizes, but more often than not this handheld weapon has a metal pointed blade with a curved back section and separate spike near the handle. While this weapon can be used in hand to hand combat, it’s normally thrown with a spinning action. You could do an assortment of damage to a filthy leech with one of these bad boys.
3. Cross Blade Necklace
Yes, you can actually buy necklaces that double as a weapon. Fun! Here is the link to the gothic cross blade necklace and here is the link to a simpler cross, the website has a wide assortment of necklace blades, but I though the crosses were funny since we’re dealing with vampires. Ahaha. Now, the blade is a bit too small to do any real damage to a vamp, but it’s still a useful weapon to have, especially since it’s completely hidden.
The chakram is a throwing weapon that hales from India. Remember the show Xena? You know that circle she always threw? That’s a chakram. It’s a large metal disk that can come in varied shapes and sizes. You can get a complete circle or get a split circle like the one pictured above. If you’ve got a good arm on you you could easily slice a vamps head off by throwing one of these at its neck. Or, if you get a double chakram you can use it in close up hand to hand combat. So many gloriously bloody possibilities.
Ok, so there is no way to easily hide this since it’s so long, but in spite of that this weapon could cause some hardcore damage in a fight. The bardiche is a mix between a polearm and an axe, consisting of a long pole with a wide axe head attached along the side and tip of the shaft. You hold it with two hands and swing it either vertically or horizontally. No vampire will want to be on the end of a bardiche.
And those a few fun goodies you can add to your vampire slaying arsenal. Sometimes you just need to mix things up.
