Abraham Lincoln Kicks Ass in New Vampire Hunter Image

Abraham Lincoln is a total badass the latest photo from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, director Timur Bekmambetov’s amazing adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s mash-up novel.

Yeah, Ben Walker (as Honest Abe) is definitely putting a hurtin’ on what we can assume is a vampire.

Timur Bekmambetov is best known for his action-packed film Wanted (LOVE!) and I am wondering if Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be just as visually appealing and thrilling as that film. I sure hope so. That movie has some amazing fight scenes, and that’s what we need in Abraham Lincoln. From the looks of that picture we just might be getting it too.

Book description:

“Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”

“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation.”

It’s unclear if they will be adding Seth’s part and the journal into the movie, or if they’ll just jump right into the story. Either way, I can’t wait!

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

    Oh, hell yeah!

The ultimate badass sequel would be “Theodore Roosevelt: Werewolf Hunter.”

Not to take anything away from Honest Abe, but Theodore Roosevelt gave a full 90-minute speech on October 14, 1912. This was immediately after he had been shot in the chest. He declined immediate medical treatment and gave the full speech with blood seeping onto his shirt and the bullet lodged in his chest. That, my friends, is a man with the “huevos” to hunt werewolves.
