Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloody lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead. “

Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Screenplay by: Seth Grahame-Smith and Simon Kinberg, based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith
Producers: Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov, Jim Lemley
Cast: Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rufus Sewell, Marton Csokas

“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” 3-Disc Blu-ray™ 3D and 2-Disc Blu-ray™ Special Features:

  • The Great Calamity Graphic Novel
  • Audio Commentary with Writer Seth Grahame-Smith
  • The Making of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter:
    • Dark Secrets: Book to Screen
    • On the Set: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
    • Vampire Hunting: Fight Choreography
    • The Art of Transformation: Make-Up Effects
    • A Visual Feast: Timur Bekmambetov’s Visual Style
  • “Powerless” Music Video by Linkin Park

So much awesome! I am particularly excited about the graphic novel, which is said to be an animated comic. I loved me some horror-filled comics, so that’s a huge bonus. And of course, I want to get my hands on the film itself. What a perfect way to spend a chilly October night – vampires, bloodshed, and ass-kicking historical figures.

As of right now, Fox has yet to release the details on the plain ol’ DVD version, but you’ll know them the moment we do.

Who here is picking up their own copy of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?” For those who have seen the film, what did you think?

I liked it. In one sense it was historically accurate in that the slave states were indeed perpetrating an anti-human atrocity and Lincoln was a great hero. It’s gratifying to see those truths starkly presented in contrast to the “honor on both sides” moral equivalence revisionism of Gods And Generals (2004) and Gettysburg (1993).

In one sense, I liked the movie better than the novel, because the movie ends before Abe goes to Ford Theatre on the evening of April 15, 1865 (which leaves much more room for creative interpretation).

Awesome, I loved that movie, saw it twice. Of course the book was better, but it still kicked ass. Can’t wait to get my hands on the DVD!
