Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Update: new trailer released – click here.

Seth Grahame-Smith, the author behind the hugely popular bestseller, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is stepping back from the world of Jane Austin and giving vampires a shot. But you won’t see this author writing an angst-filled teen love vampire story, oh no, he has switched things up again and wrote a new book titled Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Yup, a vamp novel about an American president kicking vampire ass.

Unfortunately this unique new book won’t hit stores until March 2, 2010, so we have a bit of a wait. Lame, I know. Until then all you can do is check out the book’s description and the hilarious edited pictures from inside the book…

Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”

“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation..

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

As IF we Vampies would want to hurt anyone…baaah!!

Still, if I were to ever picture an American Prez hunting us, I’d of liked it to be Lincoln…I mean he invented a LOG that bares his name for crissakes!! ;)

  6. Wow, you seem to know alot of about this stuff, but I know more an Abraham than you do (I think….I mean, I do live in America). And your right, if I would have a prez hunting vampires, I would have either Lincoln or Washington. And by the way, Lincoln did not invent the Lincoln Logs!! He lived in a log cabin so whoever made the first Lincoln logs thought it would be a good idea to name them after him.

  7. Hmmmmmmmm……This is all quite interesting-I’d like to believe that this is quite true…but I’m afraid I’ll need more proof-although I do love a good vampire movie or book, I’ll make sure to check it out.

  8. i read the book and it is quite convincing that our own president Abraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter. It seems very true but then again people say that it is “historical fiction” i believe that this book is pure truth and Abe was a vampire hunter
