Amber Benson is returning to ‘Supernatural’

I am happy to report that that Amber Benson is returning to Supernatural! Yay! Amber is best known for her role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Tara, Willow’s girlfriend whose death led to the witch going all evil. But to the Supernatural fans, Amber is known as the vampire Lenore from season 2. And Lenore is coming back!

Quite a few of old characters are returning for the sixth season of Supernatural, but none better than Lenore from the episode “Bloodlust.” This is the episode where Sam and Dean discover a nest of vampires who have stopped drinking human blood and are being hunted by the obsessive vampire hunter Gordon. The hunt triggers a moral battle between Dean and Sam over what monsters deserve to die and which ones don’t, in the end Lenore survives. Now she’s returning for season 6, episode 19, “Mommy Dearest.”

Amber Benson recently tweeted about the good news:

“On my way home from shooting another episode of SUPERNATURAL as Lenore – what a great bunch of guys, including the loverly Jim Beaver!”

Jim Beaver had written on his Facebook and Twitter about her return:

“Finished day 1 of episode 19, working with Amber Benson. She’s a real sweetheart.”

Lenore didn’t have any scenes with Beaver’s Bobby before, but it sounds like that’s not the case this time, which kicks ass because any scene with Bobby rocks! With this episode so close to the end of the season, it’s safe to assume that it’s about the “Mother of All.” Also, earlier this season fans saw the Alpha Vampire trying to recruit more vampires to build an army for a mysterious ultimate plan, so that could come into play as well.

All of this tells me that I really need to catch up on Supernatural, I am quite behind, bad bad me!

Supernatural airs Fridays at 9pm EST on The CW.

What do you Supernatural fans think will come of Lenore’s return?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
