American Vampire Vol. 2 Coming Soon!

Hurray! At long last Volume two of American Vampire is on the way! I am a huge fan of the first edition of this comic (read my review here) and am obviously looking forward to the second. Written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque and Mateo Santoluco, American Vampire Vol. 2 continues the story of Skinner Sweat, the badass American vampire.

“In this second volume, collecting issues #6-11 of the hit Vertigo series, it’s Las Vegas circa 1935, and Skinner Sweet and our gal Pearl are about to learn the hard way that the bloodsuckers in Hollywood were nothing compared to what awaits them in Sin City.

In just a few short years, young police chief Cash McCogan has watched his native city of Las Vegas go from cow-town to wild, glittering boomtown. And when the bodies of prominent businessmen start showing up drained of blood, Chief McCogan finds himself facing a threat much darker and deadlier than anything he could have imagined . . . and the only sure bet in town is that Skinner and Pearl are right in the thick of it.”

This sounds awesome! Since I don’t read comics by issue but by volume (I hate only reading a few pages at a time) I’m pretty geeked for volume two of American Vampire. It’s one of the few vampire stories that is actually badass, most vampires nowadays are all sweet and romantic, but not in American Vampire. In this tale, the vampires are dark, twisted and wonderfully violent. So if you prefer monstrous vampires over emo vamps and have yet to check out American Vampire, I highly suggest doing so as soon as possible.

If you’re already a fan, do you plan on picking up a copy of American Vampire Vol. 2? According to Vertigo’s official website it comes out May 25, 2011 (Amazon says the 31st though).

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
