Zack Snyder told Polygon, in regards to a sequel to his ARMY OF THE DEAD: “Shay [co-writer Shay Hatten] and I know exactly what happens next, and it’s insane. I’d make [that movie] in a second. What we have planned is too crazy. Once we knew [the character] Vanderohe was bit, and he’s going to Mexico City, I was like, ‘You know what’s gonna happen?’ And then I just went on a tear. By the time it ended, Shay was like, ‘OK.’”
Something I’d like to see addressed in a sequel? The dehydrated zombies that would supposedly come back to un-life if it rained. The script set this up but never capitalized on it; it never rained on those zombies. This feels like maybe there was a deleted scene, or a scene planned that for whatever reasons was never filmed. Maybe they could feature those desiccated revenants in the sequel. We won’t be seeing Dave Bautista return, or anyone else from the principal cast, excepting a couple of folks, since almost everybody died in the first film. Who might star in this proposed sequel? I suppose it’s possible they could always bring Bautista back as a zombie, or go the route of the later ALIEN sequels and have him be a clone of the original character.
The one thing I want to see most of all? The return of Valentine the zombie tiger. I was clamoring for an after-credits scene showing Valentine slinking away from the destroyed zombie capital of Las Vegas, still intact and ready for a sequel. Valentine was my favorite character, in fact. She’d better show up in the sequel!
