Time again to go back to the CW show The Vampire Diaries. When I wrote my first blog on the show before it aired I clearly wasn’t expecting much out of it, it sounded like a cheesy Twilight wannabe. Now that I have seen the show… I… I love it! It’s true, the show has another fan here.
So far there have been two episodes aired, two rad episodes. The first is the pilot, where we meet the show’s leading lady Elena Gilbert. Elena and her brother Jeremy are coming to terms with the loss of their parents who died only a few months before. The show isn’t only about vampires, it’s also about the personal relationships between the characters and the growth of individual people. In the first episode, Elena’s first day of school involves dealing with her druggie brother Jeremy, hanging out with her psychic friend, dealing with a dickish teacher and having that teacher schooled by a new boy, Stefan. Stefan is our dark, brooding and mysterious vampire. He is sexy and he has a passionate romantic spark with Elena. The episode also has its share of blood, gore and death. In some way it’s like a significantly tamer version of True Blood. We also meet Stefan’s brother Damon, the evil and oh so sexy vampire villain. Yea yea, the good vampire vs. the bad vampire is a story told a million times, but it still works in Vampire Diaries. You have to admit, naughty Damon is sexy as hell. The bad blood between the two brothers is entertaining and fun to watch and it constantly keeps you wondering what their story is.
In the second episode you have more personal drama, more mystery and more death, with a pinch of romance mixed in. I wont spoil the episode for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but I assure you, it’s a good one.
While the show doesn’t have the most creative of storylines and is for sure aimed at teens, it is still a good watch. You can’t help but get hooked, eagerly waiting for the next episode. You have vampires, a gorgeous cast, mystery, intrigue and a story that keeps you interested – all makings of a good tv show, a show that it already getting quite the buzz and is developing a large fan base. So join in on the vampire-y goodness and check the show out.

I’ve read the books and I LOVE Vampires!!!!! I am very excited that it has been made into a tv series!
Vampires RULE!!!
vampires seriously stink, all they ever do is feed there craveing for blood… i dont see much else about them.
I’m not sure if it’s just me… but I read the books, and to me it seems that the only thing the T.V series has in common is the names and the fact that they are vampires… correct me if I’m wrong…
I haven’t read the books but I have looked into them and from what I see I agree with you. It’s way different. Also, the latest show rumor is that they’re going to have Jeremy play the werewolf…even though Tyler was actually the werewolf in the books.
