Barnabas Collins is a Cartoon Character!

I’ve never watched an episode of the cartoon series BEN 10, but unlike so many of today’s cartoons, it sounds cool. I even own a BEN 10 action figure of the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp in North Carolina. (I wanted a Lizard Man figure and no other company has ever produced them.) Wait, no, that’s not right. It’s SECRET SATURDAYS that I was thinking of. It involves a kid hunting cryptids, like the Lizard Man, or something like that. I have a SECRET SATURDAYS action figure. What’s BEN 10, then? Something to do with a kid who can transform into alien creatures. I’ve never watched it, either. But I may have to watch at least one episode.

Eric Wallace, who writes for the BEN 10: OMNIVERSE series, is a big DARK SHADOWS mark, it would seem, and he slips in lots of references to the latter in an episode of the former. He even had vampire Barnabas Collins show up in cartoon form! Granted he had to give his heavy a different name, but it’s obvious that the character is based on Barnabas.

The episode wherein Barnabas guest stars is entitled “From Hedorium to Eternity.”

Eric Wallace, by the way, has also written three of the DARK SHADOWS audio dramas from Big Finish.
