Matt Reeves’s forthcoming THE BATMAN won’t be forthcoming quite as soon as we’d hoped. It has been delayed from October of 2021 until spring of 2022. At this rate, by the time it hits theaters, star Robert Pattinson will have grown too old to play the young Bruce Wayne they cast him to portray! Damn! 2022! The new DUNE will now open in the spot where Batman was supposed to land. This sucks. There’s no word on how much this delay is due to Warner Brothers just trying to ensure the biggest box office profit quotient and how much might be due to Robert Pattinson getting the ‘Rona. It’s entirely possible they simply wouldn’t have had enough time to finish the film for its 2021 release. I’d rather the movie be delayed and them take the time to get it right than for it to be rushed and end up being subpar. I expect the truth is a bit of both, both the studio being greedy and the movie requiring more time. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, will having to wait that much longer for the next Batman movie make it even sweeter when it finally releases? We can hope. It does add to the pressure on the film to deliver. After such a prolonged wait, it had better be good.
