Bela’s Mirror

I was glad to find out that Zak Bagans pronounces his last name as “bay-gens”. If it were “bag-ins” it would always make me think of Frodo and Bilbo and I wouldn’t want to associate the Hobbits with Bagans in my mind. I don’t like doing it even now, to make this point. No, I don’t care for Mr. Bay-gens. I think he’s a shyster. But credit where it’s due, he’s an entertainer who’s figured out how to shill himself and he’s proven really successful at it.

I don’t believe in Bagans, but I do believe in the items, some of them, at least, he has collected for his Haunted Museum in Las Vegas. I was there in Vegas one day—one measly day!!!—before the Museum opened, but I could not make it work to stick around for an extra 24 hours to see it. Brassed me off right proper-like, that did. The Haunted Museum is now at the top of the list of places I must visit.

Bay-gans has lots of really cool and allegedly cursed stuff at the Museum, including a mirror that once belonged to Bela Lugosi. This mirror has the “reputation for toying with your mind. Those who gazed into it reported spying a shadowed figure behind them.” Oh, that sounds too good to be true! If said dark figure appeared behind me and whispered in my ear in a cultured Hungarian accent—ah, to think of it!
