Best Gothic Songs

There is so much music out there that can fit into the Gothic genre; you have the obvious choices such as Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, and the not so obvious choices like the HorrorPops. I have compiled a list that includes some oldies but goodies as well as some surprises.

Rock is Dead – Marilyn Manson: This artist has been accused of everything under the sun including removing a rib so he can please himself; with that being said, make no mistake that he has been a trailblazer in the Gothic community.

Spookshow Baby – Rob Zombie: I chose this song because it wasn’t one of his radio hits such as “Dragula.” I guarantee that if you download this track, it’ll take you to a place where crows gawk and mist is spread across endless valleys.

Walk like a Zombie – HorrorPops: I saw this band at Bamboozle 2009 and even had the chance to meet them in person. They sound killer live and are super friendly.

Transylvania Terror Train – Captain Clegg & The Night Creatures: This band was featured on the Halloween remake soundtrack; the song is an excellent mix of rockabilly and death.

More Human than Human – White Zombie: Put this song on full blast on your iHome station and break out the guyliner and studded gloves; you’re bound to start the night off right with White Zombie.

Zombie Dance – Alice Cooper: Alice Cooper deserves the title of grandfather of Goth … enough said.

Do you have any Gothic songs you’d like to add to the list? We’d be happy to have you share your thoughts below.

  2. i heart rob zombie – i actually think he’s kinda hot! LOL n’ also the halloween remax were hot

  3. I personally don’t consider Manson or Rob Zombie to be Goth. Manson is more industrial and Rob Zombie is more, well… Rob Zombie. (Lets face it Rob’s in a class of his own.)

Goth is more Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, London After Midnight, Joy Division etc. Call me old but I think music has to know where it’s been before it can see where it’s going and calling some of today’s bands ‘Goth’ is like calling something like Simple Plan or Avril Lavigne ‘Punk’. There are modern Goth bands out there but they’re not exactly part of the mainstream music scene. The Birthday Massacre, Nightwish and Cradle of Filth can be considered modern Goth bands though they do also branch out into other sub genres

  4. Anything from the Japanese bands Malice Mizer (specially their album Bara no Seidou), Moi Dix Mois, Schwarz Stein, GPKism, Blood or the solo singer Kaya (who was the vocalist of Schwartz Stein).

  5. Type O Negative stomps on the necks of all others. Black #! (Little miss Scare-all), Hallows eve, We Hate Everyone…Cummon!

  6. I agree completely with Chris.

One of the classic is Bela Legosi’s Dead from Bauhaus.

And one of the best look remains to Dave Vanian (The Damned), the music is to punk to be goth…

But Alice Cooper has made a entrance for the gothic in the 70’s, listen to ‘i love the death’…impressive !!!

    Bye

    1. Murder is that of great antisapation. We see the happiness in the eyes of our vic’s and so we take it and crumbole it to the ground because we think that it is evil. But to tell you the truth we are the evil ones to hate and burn that wich we hate. Like the cathlic preaste who killed over 39 of our kind so that he could tell himself that he was doing the right thang by burning one after another after another.
      Sencerly,KillerWolf

  7. We all have our bad ang good thoughts about songs that have a dark and evil way of expresing all that we are but in the end we are not being expresed by the song we are expressing song its self:[ So dont judge those humans that wish they could be like our kind like Rob Zombie,Alice Cooper, and so many more.
