Better Believe Bela is Back!

The character Dracula has been portrayed more often than any other, fictional, semi-fictional, mythic, whatever. But there is one, and only one, name that rises above all the others of that august company. (The only other one, one that even comes close, is Christopher Lee, who has portrayed the Count onscreen more than any other actor.) I of course speak of the great Bela Lugosi. And now, 64 years after he left us, Bela Lugosi is back in the role that made him legendary! And speaking of legendary…

It is Legendary Comics that will be bringing us the new BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA graphic novel, a retelling of Stoker’s novel in comicbook form, with Bela appearing as the Count once again! And the use of his likeness has been approved by the Lugosi estate. Bela would be thrilled! I like to think he *is* thrilled!

“For the first time ever Bram Stoker’s gothic masterpiece is being united with the definitive screen Dracula, Bela Lugosi, in an all new graphic novel. In the late 19th century, Dracula, an ancient Transylvanian Vampire, moves to England to find fresh blood and spread his evil contagion. There he encounters two women, Lucy and Mina, who become the targets of his dark obsession. Aided by a group of brave men, Professor Van Helsing arrives on the scene and takes on the Vampire Prince in the ultimate battles between the forces of light and dark!” The artwork for this one is gorgeous. Check it out in a new trailer here.
