Blade Anime Coming Soon to DVD

Rad news for all of the Blade fans here! The Blade anime is finally coming out on DVD this month, July 31 to be exact, and it features not only the entire first season, but some bonus content as well. Check out the details below:

Show description:

“Eric Brooks—known as Blade—seeks revenge on Deacon Frost, the vampire who killed his mother while she was still pregnant with him. With all the powers of a vampire and none of their weaknesses, Blade’s quest leads him throughout Southeast Asia in search of Frost. In the Golden Triangle, he discovers a vampire plot that threatens to take down the whole world.”

DVD Special features:

  • The Marvel Anime Universe: Blade Re-Awakened
  • The Vampire Hunter: Origins and Adaptations
  • Special Talk Session: Marvel Anime’s Blade

According to Marvel, the three new featurettes on this two-disc set include “The Marvel Anime Universe: Blade Re-Awakened,” which explores the process that went into developing this new take on the vampire-hunter. The other featurettes include “Blade: The Vampire-Slayer,” comparing Marvel’s Blade with traditional vampire stories, and “Special Talk Session: Marvel Anime’s Blade and Wolverine,” an interview with series creators.

I checked out the first episode of the Blade anime a while back and really enjoyed the dark show. The creators did an excellent job keeping true to the integrity of Blade. He’s still the badass we know and love. I was also impressed by how well animated the series is, the visuals are awesome. I was particularly amazed by the epic fight scenes. The show is packed full of ass-kickery (to quote the live-action film Blade: Trinity). If you dig horror and vampires, and enjoy anime, then I suggest checking Blade the anime series when it comes out on DVD.

Any Blade anime fans here? Will you pick up a copy of the DVD?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
