‘Breaking Dawn’ Release Date Set

If you haven’t heard, the final book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, will be split into two movies. The first part is set to open November 18, 2011. Summit Entertainment has recently let fans know when the fifth and final movie will hit theaters – Breaking Dawn: Part 2 will be released November 16, 2012. That’s right, for some insane reason the final movie won’t come out until a full year after the fourth film. Stupid.

Shooting is set to begin on Breaking Dawn this fall in Vancouver and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with production taking place over the next year.

Bill Condon is directing Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s series. SPOILERS! This book is about the human Bella and the vampire Edward being married, and Bella giving birth to a half-vampire, half-human daughter, Renesmee.

In other Breaking Dawn news, Lee Pace (“Pushing Daisies”) is in talks to play the role of Garrett, a nomadic vampire, in the book.

What do I think about Breaking Dawn: Part 2 not coming out until 2012? As I said above – stupid. Summit Entertainment should get these movies out as fast as possible! They need to get them into theaters while the Twilight fad is still hot; otherwise, they’re going to have a Harry Potter situation on their hands. You know, the first Harry Potter movies were HUGE, but over time the hype died down a bit and the movie releases weren’t as insanely popular like they were in the past. That’s why I think such a long wait for Breaking Dawn is stupid. Sure there are a lot of Twilight fans now, but just like every craze, fans eventually move on. So thinking from a business perspective, this is not a wise move.

What do you guys think about the wait? Does it piss you off, or do you just not care?

  5. Dude that is so awesome! i have been dieing to know when the movies would becoming out! i saw eclipse and it was the best so fa and i have even higher hopes for both parts of Breaking Dawn!

  6. Ouch, that is kind of a long wait. Why not half a year or something, it’d be a lot better… I’m assuming they’re filming both at the same time so I don’t really see the point. Maybe they’ll change their mind? They’ve got lots of time *rolls eyes*…

  7. Most everyone thinks being fond of the Twilight Saga is for the "younger" generation. Twilighters and Twilight Moms have another to add to the group. Twilight Mamaws. I'm one.
My grabdchildren got me interested after the first movie was released. I went to see it on their second trip.
I have seen all three movies at least half a dozen times each. And have read the books several times.
I'm 60 and in pretty good health. I just hope I will be here long enough to see the last two movies.
I also have the sound tracks and enjoy them too.
It's such an experience to be there with my "munchkins"when they see "Jacob" or "Edward". And I have to admit, they are "hotties".
So add me to the fan club, 'cause, what can I say, I'm "bitten".

    1. I’m with you, Mamaw. I’m 55. To old biddies like us, a year is no longer an eternal span of time. I’m glad the movie-makers are taking their time to create quality, not rushing the films out to cash in on the craze. It shows they want to tell the story well, instead of just wanting to take financial advantage of the current hype.

  8. I agree… It runs the risk of loosing the hype by releasing them a year appart… Dont know what they are thinking!

  9. I think you’re right, that the people who are into the current Twilight craze are likely to lose interest over that time span; many of them will have moved on to the next new shiny thing. On the other hand, I expect the reason for the delay is that the movie creators want to do a really good job on the films, not just slop them together. The people who love the story will still be there for the movies, including me. But the last two movies probably won’t be as commercially successful, due to losing the people who follow the crowd.

  10. With all the dedication I’ve seen from the start, I beleive the hype will continue. And for those that lose it to some degree, I believe the release will renew it for them.
I only hope the actors will get some chance of privacy during this time.
Has to be so hard to carry on daily activities and personal relationships that the fame has brought to them.

  11. I think it is totally stupid! The longer they wait, the higher the chance that some of the same actors won’t come back! If someone else were to play any of the major characters, that would piss me off like no other. Also…who wants to wait THAT long for a movie???
