Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Angel
The human Angel, known then as Liam, was born in 1727 in Ireland. In 1753, it was Darla that turned Angel into a vampire. As a human, he was a trouble-making drunk, which is how Darla came across him. The two of them together left a bloody trail of fear and chaos all over the world; no one could rival their evil.
In 1860, Angelus (the name he goes by in his evil vampire form) met a young psychic named Drusilla. He tortured and toyed with her until he broke her, making Dru completely insane. If that wasnât bad enough, he then turned her into a vampire.
In 1898, he killed the daughter of a gypsy and her tribe got their revenge by cursing him and restoring his soul. With his soul back his humanity returned and he was plagued with the guilt of all the evil he had done as a vampire. He suffered for ages, unable to cope with what he had done. He then became Angel, doing good deeds and feeding only on the blood of animals.
In the 1990s he came across a good demon named Whistler. This demon took Angel to LA and showed him a girl, Buffy. Angel decided to help the Slayer and followed her to Sunnydale, eventually growing close to her and her friends and becoming a useful ally to the Scooby Gang.
After some time, Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel, the vampire with a soul, fell madly in love with one another. But when they had sex on Buffyâs seventeenth birthday, Angel lost his soul again and turned back into the wicked Angelus. As it turns out, the curse was to be removed if Angel ever experienced a moment of true happiness. Now evil again, Angelus wreaked destruction and devastation on Buffy and the Scoobies, not only playing mind games with everyone, but also killing the beloved Jenny Calendar. All hope was nearly lost until Willow succeeded with the spell that would give him his soul back. But it was too late; Angelus had awakened Acathla, who would destroy the world if released. To prevent it, Buffy had to send her beloved Angel to hell; it was one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the show.
A few months later Angel escaped from hell and was returned to earth in a tortured state. He and Buffy eventually got back together, but Angel soon realized that she could not live life to her full potential with him in the picture. So for Buffy, Angel broke up with her and left town. He moved to Los Angeles, where he helps the helpless and fights evil (in his own spin-off show) with the help of Cordelia and Wesley.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
