As some may know, I am a hardcore Buffy the Vampire Slayer fangirl, and of the many wonderful characters on both Buffy and Angel, Drusilla is one of my absolute favorites. This vampire was deadly, heartbreaking and hilarious all at once. She was such an unique mixture of traits that you wouldn’t expect to work together, but they did, and actress Juliet Landau did a flawless job portraying the madness that is Drusilla. So of course, when EW reported that Dark Horse Comics is planning a Drusilla mini comic, I was beyond thrilled. But what made the news even more excited is that the actress herself, Juliet Landau, is the one writing the comic.
According to EW, Landau is currently writing a five-issue Drusilla comic book miniseries, which will be part of Dark Horse Comics and Buffy creator Joss Whedon’s ongoing expansion of the Buffyverse in comic book form. For those new to the world of Buffy comics, after the show ended at Season 7, Joss Whedon continued on and created a Season 8 in comic form, and is now on Season 9. There are also a series of Angel comics as well.
Slated to be released in June, the first issue of the Drusilla spin-off, Landau said, will pick up “literally a panel after” Drusilla’s final appearance in issue No. 9 of the Angel & Faith comic series (out April 25). “I think you will get different sides of Drusilla than you have ever been seen before,” she adds, but she is keeping hush hush about the details of the project. While we don’t know what to expect in the upcoming miniseries, we at least have a sneak peek at the first issue’s main cover, by Steve Morris. Check it out:
It’s definitely a dark and twisted image, perfect for Drusilla.
I can’t wait to see what Landau creates, I’m really looking forward to reading this comic.
What do you think? Are you excited about a Drusilla comic written by the actual woman who portrayed her?
