Colin Firth to Play Vampire in ‘Stoker’

I’m so excited! Colin Firth is going to put some fangs in, and he’ll be joined by Nicole Kidman, and the super-cute Mia Wasikowska, –which is a more complicated way of saying “that adorable chick from Alice in Wonderland”. I’m excited because duh, not only is this a new vampire movie with big names in it, but, –we’ll also get the opportunity to see how a new talent, Wasikowska, will perform with classic actors Kidman and Firth. She’s proven her performance with Depp, but whether she’ll rise to the challenge of shining among serious stars, then we’re in for an awesome movie, –which I’m definitely ready to see, especially in the epitome of vampire stories: Dracula. I’m guessing “Stoker” is just a tentative title, since it really doesn’t do much justice to the romance in the synopsis:

A teenage girl mourning the death of her father deals with an uncle who mysteriously shows up to meet the family.

It sounds like it won’t be sexy, so much as smart, and scary. Colin Firth isn’t the kind of guy to take a role in which he’ll be required to flirt with his niece. SiFy News has more of the details on Firth’s acceptance of the role of bloodsucking fiend:

After playing a stuttering king in ‘The King’s Speech’, actor Colin Firth is likely to play a vampire in a horror movie.

‘It’s dark, modern and creepy. He’s (Firth) going out on a limb with this part,’ a source told News of the World.

The 50-year-old Oscar winner is expected to join Nicole Kidman, 43, and ‘Alice In Wonderland’ star Mia Wasikowska, 21, in the film, which is inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel ‘Dracula’. It is about a girl called India and her mother who are visited by a mysterious uncle after the death of India’s father, reports dailymail.co.uk.

If the things work out, Kidman may play the mother, Wasikowska will feature as India and Firth as uncle Stoker.”

Sounds good to me! I hope Nicole Kidman turns into a vampire; I think it’s actually a more natural state of being for her. Doesn’t she just look like someone who would definitely, secretly either be an alien or a vampire? She’s the only attractive woman ever to claw her way out of Australia, –definitely a vampire. And Colin Firth as a vampire, will definitely be weird, I can’t get his ‘I’m charming because I’m awkward’ character out of my head, so maybe this role will serve to distinguish him as a serious actor, not the bumbling boyfriend/fiance.
