COS vs. AHS

So the Church of Satan is pissed off at AMERICAN HORROR STORY: APOCALYPSE. I saw that in a headline the other day, but I didn’t click on the article. I had not, at that time, watched the latest episode of AHS:A and I feared spoilers. Now that I’ve seen it, I get why the Satanists are unhappy. The episode featured the society’s founder, Anton LaVey, in a none-too-flattering light. “Incredibly disappointing” the COS said on Twitter, complaining about “[l]azy writers”, calling the show “drivel” and “unimpressive and boring.” I’m not sure that people, lots of people, get that AHS is pure satire. Still, it isn’t my place to tell them whether or not they should be offended.

On a side note, I not infrequently get told that I look like LaVey. Also Ming the Merciless, which, if you think about, the two are pretty much doppelgangers. I actually started shaving my head, though, inspired not be LaVey or Ming but “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who showed me that bald could be badass, conveniently at a time when I was losing my hair. I *have* been known to dye my naturally red facial hair a dark brown or black on occasion (usually for a role), and I shave my eyebrows, which does lend me a distinctly LaVey/Ming-esque vibe, I guess.
