CW‘s ‘Vampire Diaries’ Is Here To Stay

the-vampire-diaries-castVampire Diaries fans rejoice! We’ll be getting more and more vampire-y goodness! The show’s network, The CW, has picked it up for a full season. Turns out the show scored the highest ratings for any CW premier…ever. So when you mix in the current popularity of all things vampire related with these kickass ratings how could they not keep the show going?

And the show continues to grow in popularity. The ratings have increased over the past few weeks to 4.5 million viewers, which is a lot, especially for a new show. This makes it the network’s most watched show. The  Vampire Diaries fans will be getting a complete first season. It was announced earlier that CW has ordered another set of 9 episodes. That will give the show a total of 22 episodes. Only the first 6 episodes have aired so far, and with each episode the show gets better and gets even more viewers.

For you newcomers, the show, based on the vampire novels by L.J. Smith, follows Stefan and Damon Salvatore, two vampire brothers in their quest for love and vengeance.  You have the sweet, “vegetarian” vampire, Stefan, who falls for the incredibly beautiful human girl, Elena Gilbert who recently lost both of her parents. Then there is the super sexy Damon, the badass murderous  vamp that aims to destroy everything good in Stefan’s life, all while trying to get close to Elena. The show also has an assortment of side plots involving an excellent group of minor characters.  You have Elena’s younger brother Jeremy and all his drama with Vicki. Then there is the mysterious best friend, Bonnie and finally the gorgeous but bitchy friend Caroline.

Hopefully the already awesome show keeps up the great job. I would love to see what a second season could bring for us fans.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  2. I love the Vampire Diaries TV series… I’m not sure if it’s just me but the only thing the TV series has in common with the books is the title, character names and vampires. The characters in the book are described differently to the TV characters. As I said I do love the series both books and TV… just wondering if it’s just me…

  3. No, it’s not just you. and plus, Vicki and Matt are related in the show but not in the books. They’ve changed the whole thing but the show and the books are both seriously awesome!!!

  4. The show is really addictive, once you watched it you won’t stop. Whether it’s because Nina, or Ian or Paul and maybe the storyline and etc. But the combinations are great, perfect to create a successful TV Shows
