Dance in the Vampire Bund is much more than an ongoing manga series written and illustrated by Nozomu Tamaki, it’s also a popular anime, one which will be available on DVD and Blu-ray June 14. If that’s not enough good news, the upcoming release will be unedited! Funimation, a company that distributes Japanese anime in the US, was originally streaming and selling an edited version of the anime since they feared it would be too inappropriate for American audiences (you know it’s naughty if they’re afraid to sell it in the US). There was a whole bunch of controversy when they announced that both the stream and the DVD release of the series would be edited. But after loads of fan feedback, Funimation has finally decided to release Dance in the Vampire Bund: Complete Series unedited… for a limited time only. Yay?
Anyway, about the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray:
“After millennia in hiding, Mina Tepes, the princess of the ancient covenant and ruler of all vampires, wants change. Using the vast wealth of the Tepes line, she has paid off the entire gross national debt of Japan and in so doing, gained the authority to create a “special district” off the coast of Japan that is to become the future haven for vampires from all over the world!
Now, on the eve of the landmark press conference announcing the existence of vampires to the world, terrorists and rival factions are plotting to assassinate Mina Tepes.
With the return of Mina, Akira Kaburagi’s world will never be the same. As a boy, Akira vowed to serve the ruler of the night, and now he must fulfill his destiny by protecting Mina from those who would dethrone her!”
Special Features Include:

I really liked the Dance in the Vampire Bund manga and would love to buy this DVD, but $51.99 for a 12-episode show is far too rich for my blood. What about you guys? Will you pick up your copy of the Dance in the Vampire Bund?
