Daniel Radcliffe, our favorite wizard, will be putting the wand aside and busting out his fangs to play a vampire on the upcoming Simpsons’ Halloween special. Awesome!
The British actor makes a cameo appearance in an upcoming broadcast of The Simpsons in a plot which pokes fun at Twilight. In this year’s ‘Treehouse of Horror’ Radcliffe plays a mysterious vampire named Edmund, an obvious reference to Robert Pattinson’s Edward in Twilight. Edmund falls in love with Lisa, but judging by the episode preview, his vampire ways are foiled when he takes a bite out of Homer and becomes ill from the large amounts of cholesterol in his blood.
Daniel Radcliffe isn’t the only big star in the Twilight episode. Hugh Laurie, famous for his role as Gregory House on House M.D., will play a character named Roger. Roger is said to be a shady castaway who interrupts Marge and Homer’s vacation.
“I’ve loved the show since it started; this is one of the central pillars of modern culture,” Laurie told TV Guide, spoiling the story a little by adding: “I die in the end, and I don’t think I’ve ever died on microphone. That’s a first.”
Knowing The Simpsons the episode will probably be hilarious, but after reading and seeing a million Twilight spoofs now, I don’t really see how the episode will be able to do anything new on that front. We’ll just have to wait and see.
