DARK SHADOWS Halloween Reunion
By the time many of the read this, the momentous occasion will have already taken place. This year, as you all should know, if you claim to be a true vampire mark, marked the 50th anniversary of the debut of DARK SHADOWS, the daytime sudser turned Horror serial that rewrote much of what we know about vampires today. We never would have had the sympathetic vampires of Ann Rice’s books or the sympathetic Dracula of the Francis Ford Coppola film (or the recent DRACULA UNTOLD) if it hadn’t been for DARK SHADOWS. This past summer saw many of the original cast members get together with fans for the annual convention in New York State. But a 50th anniversary calls for more than one celebration, and those cast members are getting together again, this time in California, for an event called DARK SHADOWS: HALLOWEEN IN HOLLYWOOD.
Present will be (or were, as y’all are probably reading this after the fact) Lara Parker (Angelique), Kathryn Lee Scott (Maggie), John Karlen (Willie), James Storm (Gerard), Nancy Barrett (Carolyn) and others. There will be (or was) a costume contest, the debuts of a new DARK SHADOWS documentary and Lara Parker’s latest DS novel, and of course lots of merchandise will be available for purchase. The biggest draw, though, will be/was the chance for fans to meet and greet the performers. Wish I was going to be/had been there.
