If I had any complaint about DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, it would be that they didn’t take advantage of the opportunity afforded to show the fans more universes. They so easily could have. Quick, second-long glimpses of. Say, the X-Men universe (well, they did give us Professor X, so there’s that), the ALIENS and PREDATOR universe (Disney owns those properties now, too), maybe one of the Pixar universes. I mean, we’re talking about the multiverse. Anything would have worked. They did give us one such teaser, though: One of those realities through which Doctor strange blipped was the STAR WARS universe. Specifically, he paid a brief—very brief—visit to the planet Mustafar, where Darth Vader, or rather Anakin Skywalker, got chopped and served all flambé, necessitating his transformation into Darth Vader.
Imagine of they’d actually *shown* us Darth Vader. Audience members’ heads would have exploded. That might be why they *didn’t* do it. I’ve always said, though, don’t look for any such head-splodin’ shockers until the movies start to become less profitable. (Granted it will be a loooooong time.) Then they’ll use those kind of moments as a shot of adrenaline to rejuvenate the franchises.
